After having been sidelined for a week with the flu, I still
decided to go to Dubai even if I am not prepared at all. The
idea is to use the great conditions there for a good
preparation for the next few weeks. My 1st round match
against Devvarman ended with the score of 46 57. |

Nach einer einwöchigen Grippeerkrankung entschied ich mich
trotzdem dazu, ohne Vorbereitung nach Dubai zu fliegen, um
die dortigen Verhältnisse zum Wiederaufbau zu nutzen.
Dementsprechend verlor ich mein Auftaktspiel gegen Devvarman
mit 46 57. |

Today, I have been informed that my fellow tour colleagues
voted me as the COMEBACK
PLAYER OF THE YEAR 2009. This Award
means a lot to me and it is a great honour to see that my
performances of the previous year have been so widely
recognized.

Heute habe ich erfahren dass ich von meinen Spielerkollegen
zum COMEBACK PLAYER OF THE YEAR 2009 gewählt wurde. Diese
Auszeichnung bedeutet mir sehr viel, ist es doch eine sehr

Today, I started into the ABN Amro World Tennis Tournament.
I teamed up with Guillermo Garcia-Lobpez but we lost our
doubles match against Fyrstenberg/Matkowski with the score
of 57 63 7-10. Tomorrow at 11am I will face Michael Llodra
in Singles. |

Gegen Djokovic resultierte eine 46 26 Niederlage. Nun fahre
ich für 4 Tage nach Halle um mich auf das Turnier von Dubai
vorzubereiten. 09.02.10:
Ich konnte mich gegen Llodra für die letztjährige Niederlage
in Montreal mit 61 67(5) 76(6) revanchieren. Am Donnerstag
treffe ich als nächstes auf Djokovic.
08.02.10:
Heute hat für mich das diesjährige ABN Amro World Tennis
Tournament begonnen. Zusammen mit Guillermo Garcia-Lopez
verlor ich leider mein Doppel gegen das polnische Duo
Fyrstenberg/Matkowski mit 57 63 7-10. Morgen um 11 Uhr
treffe ich im Einzel auf den früheren Gewinner Michael
Llodra. |

Unfortunately we also lost our doubles against the eventual
winners Bopanna/Qureshi in 3 sets. I will now catch a flight
back to Europe as soon as possible and get ready for the
tournament in Rotterdam next week.

After a disappointing 46 63 46 against Brown, I will try to
make it better in doubles where I am partnering Yves
Allegro.

22.01.10:
I lost my 2nd round match against Djokovic 63 16 16 36. I
will stay and practice in Melbourne for another 6 days and
then fly to Johannesburg where I participate in the
Montecasino Open which starts on February 1st.
20.01.10:
After a little more than 3 hours, I beat Matosevic with the
score of 76(7) 76(3) 46 63. My next match will be on
Thursday against Novak Djokovic.

Gegen Djokovic musste ich mich in 4 Sätzen mit 63 16 16 36
geschlagen geben. Ich werde nun noch ein paar Tage in
Melbourne trainieren und Mitte nächster Woche direkt nach
Johannesburg weiterreisen, wo ich in der ersten Februarwoche
am Montecasino Open teilnehme.

Today I lost both singles and doubles. My next destination
will be Auckland. 05.01.10: I came through my 1st round
match with a 75 63 win over Lorenzi. In tomorrows 2nd round,
I will face Nikolay Davydenko. Also in doubles, teaming up
with Viktor Troicki, I had a successful start into the new
year by beating Becker/Rochus.
03.01.10: I will start the new year at
the Qatar Open in Doha. My first match in 2010 will be on
Monday against Paolo Lorenzi. |

Heute verlor ich sowohl mein Einzel als auch mein Doppel.
Als nächstes spiele ich in Auckland.

Ich bin mit einem 75 63 Sieg über Lorenzi in das neue Jahr
gestartet. Mein nächster Gegner ist der an Nummer 3 gesetzte
Russe Nikolay Davydenko. Ebenfalls am Mittwoch stehe ich
zusammen mit Viktor Troicki im Doppelviertelfinale gegen Kas/Norman.
03.01.10: Auch dieses Jahr starte ich
meine neue Saison am Qatar Open in Doha. Am Montag treffe
ich in der ersten Runde auf Paolo Lorenzi. |

06.12.09: Last Monday, I have started
preparing myself for the upcoming season. For that reason I
went to the Serbian mountains together with Viktor Troicki
and Frederico Gil where we did a week of physical training.
From Wednesday onwards, we will continue practicing in Halle
putting the focus more on Tennis. |
06.12.09: Bereits vor einer Woche
habe ich mit der Saisonvorbereitung begonnen. Zum Start
absolvierte ich zusammen mit Viktor Troicki und Frederico
Gil eine Konditionswoche in Zlatibor, Serbien. Ab Mittwoch
geht das Training in Halle weiter, dann mit vermehrtem Fokus
aufs Tennis. |

14.11.09: In the last match of my
extraordinary '09 season I lost to Marc Gicquel in a
teammatch on Saturday. I will now leave for a holiday of 14
days to recharge my batteries. Preparations for 2010 will
begin for me on the 29th of November.
10.11.09: In Paris I didn't reach the
same level of play like last week and this led to a 26 46
first round exit against Almagro. The upcoming weekend I
will play a teammatch for TC Paris in Rennes and afterwards
I planned a 2 week holiday. |
14.11.09: Zum Saisonabschluss setzte
es für mich und mein Team TC Paris in Rennes eine 2-4
Niederlage ab. Ich verlor dabei mein Einzel gegen Marc
Gicquel. Nun verabschiede ich mich für 14 Tage in die Ferien
bevor ich am 29. November die Vorbereitung für die '10
Saison in Angriff nehme.
10.11.09: In Paris lief es mir nicht
mehr ganz so gut und deshalb unterlag ich heute Almagro mit
26 46. Am Wochenende werde ich für den TC Paris noch ein
Teammatch in Rennes bestreiten und danach gehts in die
wohlverdienten Ferien. |

07.11.09: In todays semifinal against
Roger, my rund came to an end, I lost 67(7)
36. I will now travel to Paris as soon as
possible where I received a special excempt
due to my good result in Basel. I start
against Almagro either on Monday or on
Tuesday.
06.11.09: I
continued to build on my recent success by
reaching my first ATP World Tour semi-final
at the expense of
Richard
Gasquet (61 63)
"I’m playing my childhood friend,
Marco,
who’s also making a great run in the
Rankings, so it’s a big moment for both of
us in tomorrow’s semis," said Roger
Federer. "We used to have the same
coaches, we both used to play soccer against
each other, we used to hang out as friends;
we still do. He’s been injured for two years
almost with surgeries, shoulder and knee
problems. Now he’s finally making a big
break through so I’m very happy for him. I
still hope I can stop his run."

friend Michael Lammer in a 2 hours match 26 63 63.
03.11.09: I came through my 1st round
match with a 76 36 75 win over Kohlschreiber. In
Thursdays 2nd round, I will face my Davis Cup friend,
Michael Lammer.

My first round opponent is the German Philipp Kohlschreiber.
For the first time, I will play doubles with Roger. Our
opponents are Cerretani/Qureshi.
24.10.09: Roger Brennwald offered me a Wild Card for the
Davidoff Swiss Indoors. |
07.11.09: Im Halbfinale musste ich
mich Roger mit 67(7) 36 geschlagen geben. Morgen fahre ich
bereits nach Paris, wo ich für nächste Woche von einem
Special Excempt profitiere und entweder am Montag oder am
Dienstag gegen Almagro beginne. 06.11.09: Ich erreichte dank eines 61
63 gegen Richard Gasquet zum ersten mal einen ATP
Halb-Final. Dass mir dies ausgerechnet in Basel gelingt und
ich gegen Roger Federer antreten darf, ist das absolute
Highlight in meiner bisherigen Tenniskarriere.
05.11.09: In einem über zweistündigen
Match siegte ich gegen meinen Freund Michael Lammer 26 63 63

Ich ziehe dank eines 76 36 75 Sieges gegen Philipp
Kohlschreiber in die 2. Runde ein, in welcher ich auf meinen
Davis Cup Kumpel, Michael Lammer treffe.
31.10.09:
Mein Erstrunden-Gegner ist der an Nummer 8 gesetzte Philipp
Kohlschreiber.
Zum erste Mal werde ich an der Seite von Roger Federer eine
Doppel-Partie bestreiten dürfen. Unsere Gegner sind
Cerretani/Qureshi.

Unfortunately I was beaten by Melzer in the 1st round of the
Singles draw. After a little more than 2 hours I went down

25.10.09:
My 1st doubles in Vienna is scheduled for Monday evening.
Together with Peter Luczak we face Kubot/Marach. My 1st
singles match will be on Tuesday against Jürgen Melzer.
24.10.09:
After a few days of practice in Halle, I feel ready for my
last 3 tournaments of the year. Next week I will play in
Vienna followed by Basel and Paris. |
27.10.09:
Auch im Einzel musste ich bereits in der 1. Runde knapp
geschlagen geben. Nach etwas über 2 Stunden unterlag ich
Melzer mit 67(4) 67(10). 26.10.09:
Wir unterlagen im Doppel mit 26 75 8-10.
25.10.09:
In Wien treffe ich am Montag im Doppel zusammen mit Peter
Luczak auf Kubot/Marach. Im Einzel gehts für mich erst am
Dienstag los, mein Spiel gegen Jürgen Melzer ist um 18h30
angesetzt.
24.10.09:
Nach ein paar Trainingstagen in Halle fühle ich mich nun
bereit für meine letzten 3 Turniere in dieser Saison.
Nächste Woche gehe ich in Wien an den Start, danach spiele
ich noch in Basel und in Paris. |

12.10.09:
I lost 67(3) 46 to Bellucci. Tomorrow morning I will already
be on my way back to Switzerland where I will take a rest
for the next 5 days to recover from the successful but
tiring trip to Asia where I played 13 matches in 17 days.
11.10.09:
Like in Tokyo, I qualified myself for the main draw in
Shanghai with a 63 63 victory over Im. In tomorrows 1st
round I will play against the Brazilian qualifier Thomaz
Bellucci. Beside that I will reach a new ranking high of 83
this Monday.
10.10.09: I successfully
started into Shanghais qualies by beating Tsung-Hua Yang from
Taipeh 63 62. Tomorrow I will face the Korean Im in the last
quailfying round, just like last week in Tokyo.

12.10.09:
Ich unterlag Bellucci mit 67(3) 46. Bereits morgen fliege
ich nach Hause und werde mich da die nächsten 5 Tage vom
erfolgreichen und anstrengenden Asientrip erholen, wo ich in
den letzten 17 Tagen 13 Matches gespielt habe.
11.10.09:
Wie in Tokio konnte ich mich auch in Shanghai mit einem Sieg
über Im fürs Hauptfeld qualifizieren. Nach dem 63 63 treffe
ich morgen in der 1. Runde auf Thomaz Bellucci. Zudem werde
ich morgen dank meiner Leistung in Tokio ein neues Ranking
von 83 erreichen.
10.10.09: Ich
bin mit einem 63 62 gegen Tsung-Hua Yang in die
Qualifikation von Shanghai gestartet. Morgen treffe ich in
der letzten Qualifikationsrunde wie bereits letzte Woche in
Tokio auf den Koreaner Im.

07.10.09: I lost my 2nd round
match tonight against Monfils with 67(5) 36. In the end of
my trip to Asia I will most probably play the qualifications
at the 1000 event in Shanghai on Saturday.
05.10.09: What a great day it
was: I finally got into the Top 100 and at the same
time I continued my run in Tokyo by beating Sela with 46 61
64. After 9 matches in the last 10 days, I will finally get
a day off tomorrow. My next match is on Wednesday against
Gael Monfils.
04.10.09: I qualified for
another main draw. Against Im I had to go over 3 sets but
eventually won 67(6) 64 62. I got no time to breathe though
as my 1st round match against the Isreali Dudi Sela is
scheduled for tomorrow afternoon.
03.10.09: Straight after my
arrival to Tokyo I had to go on court play my 1st match.
Like in Bangkok, I beat Gregorc in straight sets. After the
63 64 I will face the Korean Kyu Tae Im in tomorrows last
round of qualification which will be played at 2pm. |
07.10.09: Gegen Monfils fehlte
mir heute etwas die Energie und ich unterlag mit 67(5) 36.
Zum Abschluss meines Asientrips besteite ich am Samstag
höchstwahrscheinlich noch die Qualifikation beim 1000er
Turnier in Shanghai. 05.10.09: Heute war ein sehr
spezieller Tag für mich da ich einerseits erstmals in den
Top 100 klassiert, und andrerseits in Tokio weiterhin auf
der Siegesstrasse bin: nach einem 3 Satz Sieg über Sela
treffe ich als nächstes am Mittwoch auf Gael Monfils.
04.10.09: Einmal mehr habe ich
mich für ein Hauptfeld qualifiziert. Gegen Im resultierte
ein 67(6) 64 62. Meine Erstrundenpartie gegen den Israeli
Dudi Sela ist bereits für morgen Nachmittag angesetzt.
03.10.09: Direkt nach meiner
Ankunft in Tokio musste ich gegen Gregorc auf den Platz. Wie
bereits in Bangkok konnte ich diesen erneut bezwingen. Nach
dem 63 64 treffe ich morgen in der letzten
Qualifikationsrunde auf den Koreaner Kyu Tae Im. |

02.10.09: After a 2.5 hour
battle against Tsonga I lost with the score of 76(7) 36 46.
Tomorrow morning at 5am I will leave for Tokyo where my
first qualification match against Luka Gregorc is scheduled
for 6pm. 01.10.09: With another great
performance I ousted Safin with 63 76(4). My opponent in the
quarterfinal is the topseeded defending champion Jo-Wilfried
Tsonga.
29.09.09: Thanks to a great
performance I was able to beat Florian Mayer 63 63. In the
round of 16 I will play Marat Safin on Thursday.
28.09.09: With the 3 victories
over Runglertmaneepong (60 61), Gregorc (61 64) and Soeda
(64 16 63) I qualified for the main draw at the Thai Open.
There, I will start tomorrow against the German Florian
Mayer.
24.09.09: I arrived in Bangkok today.
5 years after my last Thai Open I am back here and will play
the qualies on Saturday. |
02.10.09: Heute musste ich mich
Tsonga nach knapp 2,5 Stunden geschlagen geben. Ich verlor
mit 76(7) 36 46. Bereits morgen Nachmittag spiele ich in
Tokio mein erstes Qualifikationsmatch gegen Luka Gregorc.
01.10.09: Mit einer erneut
überzeugenden Leistung habe ich gegen Safin mit 63 76(4)
gewonnen und treffe am Freitag im 1/4 Finale auf den
Franzosen Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.
29.09.09: Ich habe gegen Mayer
dank einer sehr starken Leistung mit 63 63 gewonnen und
treffe nun am Donnerstag auf Marat Safin.
28.09.09: Mit 3 Siegen über
Runglertmaneepong (60 61), Gregorc (61 64) und Soeda (64 16
63) habe ich mich in Bangkok fürs Hauptfeld qualifiziert.
Bereits morgen treffe ich auf Florian Mayer, welcher sich
ebenfalls qualifiziert hat.
24.09.09: Ich bin heute in Bangkok
gelandet. 5 Jahre nach meinem letzten Thai Open bin ich
endlich wieder hier und bestreite ab Samstag die
Qualifikation. |

Starace we beat Italy 3-1 and remain in the world group.
19.09.09: Stan and I lost todays
doubles against Bolelli/Starace with the score of 26 46
67(3). We go into day 3 with a 2-1 lead.
18.09.09: Thanks to the straight set
victories of Stan over Andreas Seppi and Roger over Simone
Bolelli, we lead 2-0 after the first day.

13.09.09: I left for Genova today
where I met the rest of the Swiss Davis Cup team. We will
face Italy on Friday in a World Group playoff match. After
our first practice session we were invited to visit the boat
of Alinghi. |
20.09.09: Dank Rogers Sieg über
Starace bezwangen wir die Italiener mit 3-1 und verbleiben
damit in der Weltgruppe. 19.09.09:
Stan und ich verloren das Doppel gegen Bolelli/Starace mit
26 46 67(3). Damit liegen wir nur noch mit 2-1 in Führung.
18.09.09: Nach dem ersten Tag führen
wir dank den 3-Satz Siegen von Stan über Andreas Seppi und
Roger über Simone Bolelli mit 2-0.
13.09.09: Heute bin ich nach Genua
gefahren, wo wir ab Freitag im Davis Cup auf Italien
treffen. Nach der ersten Trainingseinheit hatten wir die
Gelegenheit das Boot von Alinghi zu besichtigen. |

Davydenko so this years US Open has come to an end for me.
03.09.09: I continued my run at the US
Open by beating Mikhail Youzhny with the score of 26 76(4)
64 63. In the 3rd round I will play against the number 8
seeded Russian Nikolay Davydenko.
31.08.09: I came through my 1st round
match at the US Open with a 76(3) 76(2) 60 win over Starace.
In Thursdays 2nd round, I will face the Russian Mikhail Youzhny.
29.08.09: By beating Marchenko 75 26
63 I qualified for the main draw of the US Open. I will face
the Italian Potito Starace in the first round on Monday.
28.08.09: The match against Marchenko
has been interruptet at 5-5 15-15 due to rain and will be
continued on Saturday at 2pm.
27.08.09: I also won my second match
in New York beating Bemelmans 64 64. Tomorrow I will face
the Ukrainian Illya Marchenko in the last round of the
qualification.
25.08.09: I started into the
tournament with a 63 64 win over Souza. I will play again on
Thursday against Ruben Bemelmans.
24.08.09: In this years US Open I
start into the qualifying tomorrow afternoon. My opponent
will be the Brazilian Joao Souza. |
05.09.09: Ich unterlag heute Davydenko
mit 46 57 57, damit ist das diesjährige US Open für mich zu
Ende. 03.09.09: Ich schaffte gegen Youzhny
im Tiebreak des 2. Satzes die Wende und gewann schliesslich
mit 26 76(4) 64 63. Damit stehe ich im 1/16 Finale und
treffe dort auf den an Nummer 8 gesetzten Russen Nikolay
Davydenko.
31.08.09: Ich bin mit einem 76(3)
76(2) 60 über Starace in die 2. Runde des US Open
eingezogen. Dort treffe ich am Donnerstag auf
den Russen Mikhail Youzhny.
29.08.09: Ich habe mich mit einem 75
26 63 über Marchenko fürs Hauptfeld der US Open
qualifizieren können. Dort treffe ich am Montag auf Potito
Starace.
28.08.09: Die Partie gegen Marchenko
wurde beim Stand von 5-5 15-15 wegen Regens unterbrochen und
wird am Samstag um 14 Uhr fortgesetzt.
27.08.09: Nach dem 64 64 über
Bemelmans stehe ich in der letzten Qualifikationsrunde in
welcher ich auf den Ukrainer Illya Marchenko treffe.
25.08.09: Ich bin mit einem 63 64 über
Souza ins Turnier gestartet und spiele am Donnerstag in der
2. Runde gegen den Belgier Ruben Bemelmans.
